Today

Today feels different, special, doesn't it?

  1. Special? Hmmm maybe, especially quiet, catch my drift?

I mean, I get it man, the Solstice and all that, it indeed does have a special meaning, especially for you. I mean, it's arguably your greatest failure, what was supposed to be a final stand, according to you yourself, turned out to be nothing more than a one way ticket to hell and in that hell you met... hehehe, a tree.

And after that, you started killing the people you swore to protect, sure you justified it, that it was for the greater good and I'm not here to judge you or anything, it takes strength to peer into the abyss, so I'm more than willing to commend you just on that. I don't expect a human to not blink when faced what you were faced with.

But you know what makes it special for me? How quiet it has become since, I mean look around, remember all those warriors that you tried to inspire? Asking them to partake in your plan, to come up with their own versions of your heroic final stand. Oh how inspiring you were to so many! And now, where are they? Gone. Some are no doubt dead, some are M.I.A., some are probably hollowed out and some are trying to survive in silence.

    Special indeed.

    1. Maybe not gone. Just off the grid hopefully. But don't you at least some of them? The playful...banter and psychological shit you do may have been missed by not just a few.

    2. Banter. Taunts. I'm not so sure I do. A better me could've maybe actually tried to help them, instead of giving in.

  2. Maybe if you were actually serious about that, you'd have an email address on your profile. Just so, you know, we could reach out to you in a way that didn't involve these apocalypse logs of the damned... and those of us who did the damning.

    Just a thought.

    1. A grand idea! A return to the form! Like the good ol' days! Everyone updating us about their relatable struggles, their weaknesses, what shakes them, what makes them crumble and the eventual defiant rise, all peppered with the light-hearted banter, or life-threatening promises.

Would be even more poetic, if it all started again with you, Zero.

    2. I think you misunderstood me. I suppose that sort of brain rot would be rather typical of those of us still alive and present. A decade of what we've all been through... well. Perhaps there's a few I'd wish it on, but they are long dead and buried -- or worse. Maybe it's what they deserved. Or maybe they're the ones who got lucky. It's hard to say for sure.

Anyways. My point is that our mutual subject of discussion has somewhat of a dilemma. Desperate for human contact with those of us who seem to remember what I will derisively call /the before/, but also seemingly cutting himself off from the world, his interactions once-removed, safe by all accounts... I can relate, I suppose. But not all of us are keen to, as you so elegantly put it while displaying a startling lack of reading comprehension, put our pathetic existences back on display for your entertainment. And while I've never been one for kindness without strings, I can at least spare some of my precious time for old time's sake, as it were.

So, to be clear; zero. If you would like to chat with someone from "the good old days" who by all accounts has not lost their mind (or, at least, once lost their mind and deigned to find it), an email on your profile is the way to make that happen.

Even if it is nowhere near enough.

It will just have to do.

    3. Rude and detached, too many previous game pieces exhibited those traits to pin down who this might be, doesn't matter really.

It is funny how you seem to presume some kind of level of reading incomprehension on my part, for someone who claims to be from the "Good ol' Days" you seem to fail to connect the very obvious patterns that tended to occur on this small website we inhabit. And usually, that is the fact that once a proposition for private discourse is pushed forward, if taken up on said proposed discourse, it would lead to a plethora of published posts following shortly after.

Now if that is the hidden intention on your part, or as you put it a simple act of "kindness" is unknown to me. However, I think I speak on behalf of many silent ones that no doubt pay attention to this blog from time to time, that the formula I presented would be a greatly desired outcome.

Also, who said anybody's existence is pathetic? Au contraire, while indeed it is entertaining to behold the struggles of people caught up in this mess, the entertainment value does not come from distain for those who choose to document their perils, true entertainment comes from how much said people tend to shake things up in this predicament we find ourselves in. Be it by causing conflict between parties, unravelling something new, or simply by just growing.

Regardless of what ends up happening, I do sincerely hope that Zero ends up taking you up on your offer, simply because it would be a move in some kind of direction, rather than just being stuck in what I truly despise in people, stagnation.
